The Handbell Choir

Handbell Choir

Marilyn Winfield organized Lititz Moravian Memorial Handbell Choir in 1990 with fifteen members and two octaves of bells. The initial two octaves of bells were given in memory of Richard Allebach by his wife, Doris. Mrs. Allebach also donated tables, table pads, and special bell music folders. The handbell choir played its first anthem, “O Worship the King,” at Moravian Manor on April 1, 1990.

In 1993 the third and fourth octaves of handbells were presented to the Choir in memory of Fred Miller by his wife, Edna. The preparation room cabinets were expanded in 1993 to hold all of the bells, tables, music stands and music. A fifth octave was added in 2000.

The Handbell Choir usually meets on Monday evenings at the church at 7:30 p.m. and performs in worship services of the Church once a month. Persons interested in joining the Handbell Choir should call the church office at 626-8515.
